The Barbel

coarse fishing barbelThe Barbel are found in fast flowing freshwater rivers, they regularly hide under over hanging trees like the Willow that grow on the banks of rivers. The barbel has a long and streamline silver body with all of its fins brown and has a over hanging top lip with what looks like a mustache and two whiskas either side. The average weight for a Barbel is between 9 1b to 11 1bs. Barbel are found through out most of europe and seem to be a good fighting river fish to catch, there good sports are Barbel. The best baits that Barbel tend to have a taste for is meat such as luncheon meat and also maggots. Maggots seem to be the best all round bait when your fishing so give them ago.
