The rudd is a good little fish to fish for when course fishing. It likes to hang around in shallow areas in lakes ponds and canals where food is in abundance. To identify the fish it has got quite a deep body with a tint of gold on its scales also all of its fins are a distinctive red colour and has a protruding lower lip. Its average weight it gets to is between 2 1b to 3 1bs. Rudd have colonized all of europe so they seem to be pretty popular to anglers, also they smem to be a good little fish to catch for first timers at fishing. The most recommended bait to use on your line is the humble maggot then you will have them hook line and sinker excuse the pun. You can also use corn or bread but the maggot to a rudd is irresistible. Remember its not only Rudd that can't resist maggots sow make sure you know where the Rudd are if your specifically fishing for them.
